Helping Your Body Stay in Equilibrium

Your Practitioner

Joanie, L.Ac, DACM, grew up in the mountains of Northern California, surrounded by many siblings in a holistic upbringing. When anyone got sick, the treatment was rest and nutrition. They rarely saw a doctor, unless it was an emergency visit for something like stitches or broken bones. From a young age, Joanie knew she wanted to help people in some capacity. When she learned about acupuncture, she was completely enthralled with the idea of helping people without medical intervention. She has firsthand experienced the far reaching benefits of acupuncture with injury, pain, migraine headaches, stress and anxiety, among other things. Joanie enjoys treating a broad range of ailments and some of her expertise includes pediatric acupuncture, mental health, oncology, and pain.

Mountain Dragon’s
Approach to Balance

The concept of body balance and equilibrium is central to its philosophy and practice. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, the body is believed to be governed by a vital force called Qi (pronounced "chee"), which flows through meridians or pathways. When this Qi is balanced and flows freely, the body is in a state of health and harmony.

Joanie and her family of five live in Markleeville, CA, where they spend their time enjoying nature, soaking
in the hot springs, and exploring Alpine County.
